Services held for Gwladys Bradford
A memorial service was held at Goodwin House West with interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
Gwladys came to Washington, D.C. through a Civil Service Commission in 1929. She died December 31, 2000 at Goodwin House West, Falls Church, Virginia, of congestive heart failure.
Gwladys Vera Bradford was born April 30, 1910 the youngest of five children, in Lime Springs, the daughter of John A. and Mary (Hughes) Williams. She graduated from Gates Business College in Waterloo with honors in 1929, afterwards working for the U. S. Government and U. S. Navy.
In 1937 she married William E. Bradford at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Washington, soon after moving to Arlington and residing in that county until moving to Goodwin House West in 1990. After raising three children she worked part-time for the May Company at Hechtls in Parkington Fails Church from 1966 to 1970.
She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Arlington since 1958.
She also enjoyed bridge and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include two daughters: Susan Bradford-Moore of San Jose, CA and Carol B. Laird of Alexandria, VA; one son: John W. of Hong Kong; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Gwladys was preceded in death by her husband William in 1994.
