May 23, 1897, Violet H., little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hayes died, aged 3 years 2 months and 1 day. Her disease, diphtheria in the worst form changing to membranous croup and blood poisoning, took away the tender little life which five days before was so bright and cheerful. Violet was an unusually bright and loving child, loved by all who knew her. She was laid to rest in New Oregon cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
'Tis hard to break the tender cord.
When love has bound the heart.
Tis hard, so hard, to speak the words,
Must we forever part?Dearest loved one we have laid thee,
In the peaceful grave's embrace,
But thy memory will be cherished
Till we see thy heavenly face.
