On Saturday last, the people of this place were shocked at hearing that Mr. Richard Noehring had taken morphine and the doctor had no hope of saving him. He died at eleven o’clock Saturday evening. Mr. Noehring has suffered for years hence the awful step he took. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the M. E. church. After a short address by Rev. Hawk, of Preston, the members of the Masonic lodge, also of Preston, of which he was a member, conducted a very impressive service. The Woodmen of this piece then followed his body to the cemetery and held their services over the grave. Richard Noehring was born at Mecklenburg, Germany, in 1855. He came to this country and married May Serfling in 1886. His wife and only child, Charles, survive him. We join with the host of friends in extending our sympathy to the bereaved mother and son. Owing to the shock of her husbands death, Mrs. Noehring is in a precarious condition.
