Barbara Lammers, age 83, of Chester, IA, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012, in St. Michael, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Chester United Methodist Church in Chester with Pastor Candraeah Carey officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs. Friends may call from 5:00– 7:00 pm Friday at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco. Barbara was born March 4, 1929 in Atkinson, IL, the only child of Russell and Alice (Steiner) Krakliow. On August 9, 1947 she married Harvey Hans Lammers in Burlington, Iowa. They farmed in the Lime Springs and Chester areas. They later owned and operated the Wheel Inn in Chester for 23 years, retiring in 1993. After retirement they enjoyed traveling and spending several winters in Arizona. Barbara enjoyed many activities; shooting pool, playing cards and dancing she was also inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Barbara is survived by two children, Sue Cartney of Otsego, MN and Larry (Pam Edwards) Lammers of Chester, IA; a daughter-in-law, Barb Lammers of Cresco; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Grace Krakliow; husband, Harvey; a son, Curt; and a son-in-law, Mike Cartney. Casket bearers are Cory, Colby and Casey Cartney, Steve Ellingson, Jeremy Lammers, Jason Peterson, Nathan Shaw and Justin Hovey.
