Frank “Pinky” Alden Waid, 82 of Cresco, IA, passed away while visiting family in Jewell, IA on April 13, 2012. Frank was born in the Charles City Hospital on September 15, 1929 to Rexford Bennett Waid and Anna Helena (Wright) Waid. Pinky graduated from Charles City High School in 1948, attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA before entering the Air Force in December of 1948 for four years, becoming a Staff Sergeant. He was active in baseball and all sports in high school and the Air Force. Returning to Charles City in 1952, he worked for Lindemere Dairy. On August 15, 1954 he married Marian Elizabeth Barger at the First Baptist Church in Swea City. Together they moved to Cresco in 1959 and worked with State Farm Insurance, farming and ran Pinky’s Café for 25 years, retiring in 2001. To this union three children were born; Donna, David and Danny. Pinky and Marian worked side by side in business and their marriage. Pinky enjoyed all sports, being involved with his grandchildren, fishing and telling a good story. He was known for his potato salad and his friendly personality. He was a member of the Gideons International. Pinky had assurance of his eternal home in heaven through a personal faith in Jesus Christ. His life statement is represented by I John 5:14-15. He had an active life of faith. The Cresco Community Chapel began in Pinky and Marian’s home in 1963. He is survived by his three children, Donna, David (Charlene) and Danny (Karen), five grandchildren, Dusty Marie, Robert David, Jacob William, Sara Elizabeth, and Samuel Ross, and three great grandchildren, Jayden, Damian and T.J. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Marian, and two sisters, Elaine Waid Carr and Peggy Waid Brinkman.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
