Dale Alden Nilges, the son of Paul and Frances (Wortman) Nilges was born on June 23, 1932 in rural Adair County. He attended country schools and graduated in 1951 from Des Moines Township Schools. Dale served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955. Dale farmed with his father and brother in Britt. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Joan Nelson on August 9, 1958 at the Kanawha Lutheran Church. Dale and Genevieve moved to Sumner, IA in 1959 and lived there for thirteen years before moving to rural Elma where they purchased the family farm. Dale retired from farming in 2001. He loved restoring tractors, camping and loved to travel. Dale moved to the Riceville Family Care & Therapy Center in November of 2010. Survivors include a son, Bruce (Deanna) Nilges of Elma, IA, Lora (Randy) Young of Maxwell, IA, and Lisa (Doug) Rose of Fort Worth, TX, ten grandchildren, Jason , Matthew and Kirsten Nilges, Holly, Travis and Brittany Young and Julia, Logan, Sydney and Orion Rose; a twin brother Dean (Charlene) Nilges of Fredericksburg, IA, a sister Darlene(Donald)Hansmeier, Corwith, IA, a good Friend Aileen Kirchoff and many relatives and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Douglas Nilges in January of 1986 and a sister Peggy in 1932.
Cemetery:
