Bette Squires, 82, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco, Iowa. Bette was born on May 4, 1929 in Bedford, IA to Tom and Mable Cross. She attended Simpson College from 1947-1949 and later received her Bachelor’s Degree at Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, MO. Bette married Ed Squires in 1950. Together, they started their teaching career at Linden, IA. When her husband Ed enlisted in the Navy in 1951 she moved to Oregon where her husband was stationed. Bette taught in Astoria, OR, for four years. Bette and Ed moved to Cresco, Iowa in 1955. She taught in the Howard-Winneshiek School District for thirty years. She is survived by her many family and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents, and two sons, Stephen and Vincent.
