Mary Lucille Eastman was born February 25, 1918, in Howard County near Riceville, IA. She passed away August 20, 2011, at the Riceville Family Care & Therapy Center. Mary was the daughter of Peter and Edna Irene (Errington) Staley. She went to school in Bailey and McIntire and was a member of the class of 1935 at McIntire. She was married to Clinton Kyle “Bus” Eastman on April 6, 1935 in New Hampton, Iowa. They farmed and raised three children on the family farm north of McIntire. Mary worked at Sande’s Locker in LeRoy, MN and the McIntire grocery store for many years. Bus and Mary moved to Riceville in 1991. Mary was a member of the McIntire Methodist Church. She decided in September, 2010 that she was ready for the Care Center and lived there very comfortably until her death. Mary is survived by her three children: Lucille Jensen, Keith (Mary) Eastman, and Leota Chase all of Riceville. She was “Grandma Bus” to 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Gretta Fisher of Toledo, IA; half-sisters: Peggy Doonanco of Cold Lake, Alberta, Priscilla (Lyle) Mayer of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Marlene Conway of Cold Lake, Alberta, and a half-brother John (Birdie) Staley of Whitehorse, the Yukon Territory; sister-in-laws: Esther Doane of Osage, Lois Edgeton of Pine River, MN, Mildred Eastman of Osage, IA, Shirley Bucknell of Adams, MN, Sharon Eastman of Riceville, IA, Lorraine Staley of Calgary, Alberta, and a brother-in-law Herbert Eastman of Mankato, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons-in-law, Donald Jensen and Joel Chase and a sister, Kathryn Manwiller.
