Danny Courtney, 52, of Cresco, Iowa passed away at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa on July 16, 2011, from injuries sustained in an accident.

Danny was born on January 11, 1959 in Cresco, Iowa. He is the son of Evelyn (Hron) Courtney Andresen and Gerald Courtney. After Gerald's death in 1965, Dan was fortunate enough to have another father in his life when Thomas Andresen married Dan's mother Evelyn. Dan attended St. Joseph's Elementary and Crestwood High School graduating in 1978. Dan married Tammy (Slifka) June 6, 1981 at Assumption Church in Cresco. To this union four children were born; Cody, Cyle, Cari, and Cheyann. Dan lived all his life in Cresco and was engaged in farming and milking cows with his parents and worked at Cresco Yamaha and Pat Gooder's Body Shop. In 1987, Dan began his career at Donaldson Company in Cresco. Dan, along with his wife Tammy, owned and operated Courtney's Lawn Service, Cresco Fire Safety Equipment and The M & M Lounge. Dan loved his family and they always came first. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling, boating, and spending time with family and friends. Dan was known for living life to the fullest. With a twinkle in his eye, and his fun caring personality, he had the ability to make every person that he met feel special. Survivors include his wife, Tammy (Slifka) Courtney, four children, Cody (Danielle), Cyle (Adrianne), Cari (Evan) Carman, all of Cresco, and Cheyann, at home. A daughter Danielle Christopher, of Bluffton. One brother, Timothy Courtney of Cresco and one sister, Judy (Eric) Thorson of Waterloo, and his parents Evelyn and Thomas Andresen of Cresco. Dan had four grandchildren who he treasured, Carter, Chloe, Brinley and Kaden Courtney and many nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Courtney, his grandparents Harry and Stella Courtney, Vincent and Rose Hron, and William and Christine Andresen.

Visitation:
Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home on Monday from 2-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Service:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, Iowa.
