Gene Jensen, 79, left this world peacefully on July 21, 2010 at his home after a struggle with cancer.
Gene was born September 17, 1930 in Springfield, Minnesota; the son of Arnold and Elsie (Haas) Jensen. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Springfield High School in 1948. On February 25, 1952 he married Lenice Harkin. Gene managed grain elevators at Sanborn and Goodhue, Minnesota. They moved to Elma, Iowa to manage a Monsanto fertilizer plant. Gene also worked in the freight transportation business for New Ulm Freight Line and Johnsrud Transport from which he retired in 1992.
Gene grew up with a love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and trapping on the family farm. Gene also enjoyed fishing trips with friends and family. Many weekends of his adult life were spent with family and friends on the Mississippi River boating, skiing, and fishing. Gene also enjoyed watching and feeding songbirds in his yard. Gene was an active member of the Cresco Wildlife Club for many years. Gene also loved deer hunting with friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Elsie, his brother Lowell, and son Mike.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lenice; his sons Randy (Carla) of Ellington, MO, Rick (Donna) of Guttenberg, IA; Gary (Deb), Jon (Debbie) and Steve (Melissa) of Cresco, IA; sister Carol Isaksen of Lake Osakis, MN; 13 grandchildren and a great grandson.

Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.Visitation:
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA, and also one hour prior to services at the church.Service:
