Irene Seele, 92, of Cresco, IA passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, IA.

Irene Mildred Seele was born on December 16, 1917 in New Hampton, IA, the daughter of Ingval C. Natvig and Burnetta Frank Natvig. IN 1922 her family moved to the farm south of Cresco. After graduating from Cresco High School she attended Luther College for two years, attaining a teaching degree. She taught in Fairbank, Iowa, and later in Waterville, Iowa. While in Waterville, she met Lester Seele. They were married on Valentine's Day in 1942. During the first two years of his U.S. Navy enlistment, Irene was able to live with Les while he attended various electrical and radar schools on the east coast.

When WWII ended, they returned to Cresco and Irene's "home farm", where they farmed until Les's death in 1999. Their daughter Lynn was born while they lived in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1944. Son Bill was born in 1946. Irene returned to the teaching profession in 1965 and also completed her Bachelor's degree at Luther in education in 1974. Her interests were as numerous as her friends; reading, church activities, playing cards, hunting, fishing and feeding birds, but especially interacting with friends, family and friends to be.

She is already missed by her daughter Lynn and her husband Doug, her son Bill and his wife Cheryl, her granddaughter Carrie and fianc Trip, her granddaughter Meagan and her husband Ryan. Her great granddaughter Kenzie and great grandson Bryce were both blessed by her smile. Her sister Lynette Stopperan always was and remains her friend.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and an infant brother.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in New Oregon Cemetery in rural Cresco, IA.

Visitation:
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Monday evening at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA, and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Service:
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, IA.
