Barbara Jean Ristau, 74, of Cresco, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Evan's Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa, after a 7 month illness.

Barb was born December 2, 1935, in Simpson MN to Dominic and Mary (Kavanagh) McConnell, and grew up in the Rochester area where she attended Rochester Lourdes School.

She married Paul J Ristau on July 10, 1954, at St Bridget's Catholic Church in Simpson. Together they raised four children and farmed near Preston MN area until 1975, at which time they moved to Cresco. One of her greatest accomplishments was driving school bus for Howard-Winneshiek School Distrist for 22 years. She also worked in the transportation department at Oneota Care Facility for several years. Barb was an active member of Notre Dame Parish. She enjoyed gardening, camping, quilting, raising sheep and playing cards. She loved being with her family, with Barb behind the wheel, she and Paul took many long road trips to visit family and friends across the country.

She is survived by her husband, Paul; 3 daughters, Mary (Neil) Fishbaugher of Canton, MN; Debbie (Tim) Harrington of Poulsbo, WA; Roxie Munyon of Poulsbo WA and 1 son, Mark Ristau of Cresco IA. She has 7 grandchildren, Nikki, Corey, Bill, Rachele, Joel, Marc and Nadia. She also has 6 great-grandchildren, Michael, Hanna, Payton, David, Danny and Patrick. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Mark (Bev) McConnell of Albert Lea, MN and Kevin McConnell of Escondido, CA.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers who were lost at a young age in a house fire in 1946 (Joan, David, Ralph and Henrietta), and another brother, Phillip McConnell passed away in 2005.

Cemetery:
Burial will take place at St Bridget's Cemetery in Simpson, MN.

Visitation:
Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 13 2010, at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco IA, from 4 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Service:
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Parish, Cresco Iowa.
