He was married to Elizabeth Wright Oct. 27th, 1885. Four children were born to this union, three of whom died in infancy, and J. Emmett, of Cresco.
Mr. Carroll retired from active farm work four years ago when he moved to Cresco where he lived until his death, Nov. 25th.
He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his wife and son, three brothers, Chas. C., of Cresco, James J., of Randolph, Neb., and Wm. Carroll; and four sisters, Mrs. J. W. Daley, Mrs. Albert Glass, Mrs. Elias Ferrie, all of Cresco, and Mrs. Thomas McKay, of Prairie du Chien, Wis.
The funeral was held on Friday last at the Church of the Assumption which was filled with friends of the deceased. Few men in the county had a wider range of friends among all classes or creeds or was more universally respected. He was a good neighbor, an honest and upright citizen, and a devout member of his church, one whose daily life was an example of practical, earnest, sincere, and yet unostentatious Christianity. Interment was at St. Joseph’s cemetery.CARD OF THANKS
