Egbert Benson Wildman was born in Castile, Wyoming county, N. Y., Dec. 17, 1843, and died at his home in Cresco, Iowa, June 3, 1914. When a boy Mr. Wildman moved with his parents to Rock county, Wis., and later to Darlington, LaFayette county, where his boyhood was spent. When the call came for those who would defend the old flag and the country represented, he enlisted in Co. G. 46th Reg. Wis. Volunteers, and was out in the defense of his country until Sept. 27, 1865, when he was honorably discharged at Nashville, Tenn. In 1869 he came to Howard county, Iowa, and on May 23, 1870 was married to Frances Howard..To this union was born seven children, one of whom died in infancy. The six who survive the father, are John B. of Monticello, Minn., Mrs. J. C. Nichols and Albert of Cresco, Iowa, Jennie F. and Stephen M. of Rapid City, S. D., and Mrs. Ray Becker of Le Roy, Minn.
