Death of Mrs. Herbert Durfey.
The death of Mrs. Herbert Durfey occurred on June 6th, at her home in Selby, S. D., following a long illness from enlargement of the spleen.
The remains, accompanied by the husband and children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schaefer, and brother Charles arrived Tuesday afternoon and were taken to the Baptist church, where funeral services were held, and then to New Oregon cemetery for interment.
Ruth Schaefer was born Aug. 4, 1887, in New Oregon township, Howard county, and was a graduate from the Cresco High School. At an early age she united with the Baptist church, in which she was an active worker until she moved in May, 1912, to Selby, S, D. On June 26, 1907, she was married to Herbert P. Durfey, who with two little boys remain to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother. She also leaves her parents, a sister, Mrs. Fred Howard, of Cresco, and three brothers, A. H. Schaefer, of Pasadena, California, C. T. Schaefer, of Colombia, S. D., and H. E. Schaefer, of Cresco.
