Transcribed from: http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn87058075/1914-06-12/ed-1/seq-2/Bertha Clair Everingham, youngest daughter of B. D. and Helen D. Everingham, was born in Cresco, Iowa, December 12, 1881, grew to womanhood here and passed away June 1, 1914.
She was graduated with honors from the Cresco High School in the CLASS of 1901, afterwards becoming a successful teacher in this county. As a student, she distinguished herself for her diligence, accuracy, integrity and conscientious discharge of every duty.
April 14, 1906, she was united in marriage to Philip G. Kratz. When a young girl she became a member of the local Baptist church and after her marriage united with the Evangelical church. She possessed a beautiful Christian character, always thinking of others rather than of self, and trying ever to lighten the burdens of those near and dear to her.
The husband, two sons, father, mother, seven sisters and three brothers remain to mourn her loss.CARD OF THANKS
We desire to thank our neighbors and friends who so kindly expressed their sympathy by sending flowers, and assisting us in other ways in this hour of our bereavement. Especially do we thank those who took part in the services at the church.
