Alpha Wentworth passed away Wednesday afternoon after an illness of several months. The funeral takes, place this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church.

Alpha Wentworth was born August 24, 1847, in Kingsey, Province of Quebec. He was united in marriage to Emily Cross of Durham, Can., the 26th of December, 1871. To this union one son, Ira, was born, the mother dying when he was 15 months old.
Mr. Wentworth was again united in marriage to Marla Whitney on April 20, 1875. They resided in Kingsey until May 10, 1378, when they came to Cresco where they resided till his death. To this union were born seven children, 5 girls and 2 boys: Ella Mabel, dying In Canada at the age of two years, Mrs. Roy Noblett of Jefferson, Iowa. Arthur of Cresco, Mrs. N. C. Peckham of Albion, Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Ridgeway, Iowa, Ransom W. of Harrison, Idaho, and Eva of Cresco.
He also leaves a brother, Richard, of Burr Oak, Iowa, and five sisters, all residing in Canada.
He died April 8, 1914. Services were conducted by Rev. F. Clifton Shaffer of the Baptist church Friday, April 10, 1914, and the Interment was at Oak Lawn cemetery.
