Death of Mrs. J. E. Howe.
Mrs. Jesse Howe, residing on Water street, this city died suddenly on Monday morning at the Park hospital, where she was taken following a sudden attack of acute Bright’s disease last Thursday. Everything possible was done to alleviate the woman’s suffering, but all efforts toward recovery proved futile. The many friends of this excellent woman were greatly shocked and pained to learn of her death.
Mrs. Howe’s maiden name was Jeanette E. Buckland, and she was born at Schuvlerville, N. Y., September 30, 1874, being 39 years of age last September. Her family moved west, first to Calmar and then to Cresco, where she was married to W. K. Blackburn in 1894. One daughter, Miss Edna Blackburn, resides here. Mrs. Howe was married to Jesse E. Howe, who is a locomotive fireman on the M. & St. L. railroad, and the family lives on Water street. They have one son, Sidney Harold Howe. She is survived by two brothers, Sidney M. and Bernard D. Buckland, both of Mason City, in addition to the members of her family. While residing at Cresco she joined the Methodist Episcopal church. She was a member of the Cresco Grove Woodmen Circle. She was a woman greatly beloved by all who knew her.
The funeral service was held at the Baptist church, Wednesday at 2:30 p. m., Dr. Osgood officiating. The members of the Woodmen Circle will attend in a body. —Mason City Times.
