Ryan David Walker Lewis, beloved son and brother, died of a Pulmonary Embolism in Tipton, IA, on June 15, 2009. Ryan was 27 years old.
Ryan was born in Cresco, Iowa, to John and Carol (Ryan) Lewis on September 30, 1981. He received the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation at Nativity Catholic Church. Ryan attended Crestwood Elementary and was a member of the graduating class of 2000 at Crestwood High School. At the time of his death, Ryan had just completed a 6 month internship at IBM in Rochester, MN, and was anticipating graduation from the University of Northern Iowa in December. He was a member of the UNI Accounting Club and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society while attending NEICC in Calmar. He had planned to pursue a career in business.
Ryan loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, enjoying time with his friends at "Hunter's Paradise," canoeing and fishing, morel hunting, working with his dad on the farm, and biking. He enjoyed the time he spent with the network of friends he met through Iowadeer.com. Ryan also was a dedicated fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved spending time following stock car racing and building demolition cars as well as being with his friends, family, and his special dog Branigan.
Ryan will be greatly missed by his parents, one brother Don of West Des Moines, IA, and sisters Rachel (Tom) Himes of Tipton, IA, and Susie Lewis of Cresco, IA, as well as his nephews Ian and Walker Himes and nieces Caitlin, McKenzie, and Isabella Himes all of Tipton, IA, grandmother Phyllis Lewis of Decorah, IA, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Preceding Ryan in death were his maternal grandparents Don and Marie (Pederson) Ryan and paternal grandparents Kenny and Darleen (Walker) Lewis.
