Albert O. Flugge, age 85, of Elma passed away at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa on June 4, 2009.
Albert Oliver Flugge was born north of Elma, Iowa on the family farm on May 11, 1924 to Albert and Mary Patten Flugge. He attended local schools. Albert "Bert" Flugge was united in marriage to Evelyn Dorothy Opat on September 8, 1948 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes, IA. "Bert" farmed his entire life. On April 5, 2008 at St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in rural Elma, IA, he was united in marriage to Lois Friedrich.
Survivors include his wife: Lois of Elma, two sons: Bob and his wife Kelly of Riceville, and Dan and his wife Sandy of Mason City; grandchildren: Ryan Flugge, Rob Flugge and his special friend Terri Adams, Holly Flugge, Andy Flugge and his fiance Rebekah Parris and Jennifer Flugge and great-granddaughter Evelyn; two sisters: Helen Shoars of Osage and Caroline Flugge of Kansas City, MO; two step-sons: Carl Friedrich (wife Denise) of Lincolnshire, IL, children Curtis and Leanne; Norman Friedrich (wife Susan) of West Union, IA, children Tristan, Benjamin, Ethan, Ellen; step-daughter-in-law Hope Grabau (husband Russell) of Waterville, MN, children Lora, Zane, Lydia, Ezra, Ezekiel; step-daughter-in-law Kathy Shaw, children Mary, Sarah, Carolyn Friedrich, step-grandson Nathan Shaw (wife- Stacy).

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Evelyn on March 1, 2006, a son John, two sisters: Dorothy Persing and Edith Groth, and two brothers: Harold and Charles.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Lourdes, Iowa.

Visitation:
Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Sunday during the hours of 4 - 7 P.M and one hour on Monday before services.

Service:
Albert O. Flugge, age 85, of Elma passed away at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa on June 4, 2009. Funeral services will be held at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Monday June 8, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. with the Pastor Dan Christensen officiating.
