Lawrence E. Peters, 88, of Cresco, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Regional Health Services Hospital.

Lawrence Ernest Peters was born on February 18, 1923 to Ernest and Mary Vit Peters in Howard County, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Janet Blaser on May 4, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. From this union one daughter, Karen, was born. Lawrence worked for many years at the Rural Electric Cooperative as a service technician. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, served on the church council and the Cresco city council, and was a board member of L & L Apartments. He maintained the clock in the tower of Immanuel for many years. He may be most remembered for his work selling and servicing Zenith televisions in the area. He enjoyed fishing, HAM Radio, woodworking, spending time with family and friends, and playing cards. Lawrence also enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels, and he adored the company of his dog, Dusty.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Karen (Alvin) Voyna of Cresco; sister, Viola Roman of Cresco; grandson, Scott (Jeanne) Voyna of Cresco; granddaughter, Kristina (Teri) Voyna of Davenport; great grandchildren, Emily, Brock, and Trenton Voyna all of Cresco.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the New Oregon Cemetery, Immanuel Lutheran Church, or HoCA.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Lindstrom Funeral Home.
