Gladys Roethler, services held

Funeral services for Gladys Roethler were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 25 at the Congregational Church with interment to be in the spring in New Orgeon{sp} Cemetery. Rev. Tim Sir officiated. Pall bearers were her grandsons: Richard and Steve Roethler, Jeff, Dan, and Ron Glawe, and Michael Blanchard. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Gladys, 87, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at Regional Health Center in Cresco.

Gladys Roethler was born July 1, 1913 in Elma, the eldest child of Charles and Anne (Koshatka) Eiffler.

On October 15, 1935 she married Ben Roethler at Cresco. After farming in Howard County they moved to Duluth, MN in 1942. They also lived in Osage, Cedar Rapids, and retired back to Cresco in 1980.

Some of her fondest memories were of their cabin at Delhi. For over five years they fished, mushroomed, and enjoyed the quiet serene setting of nature. She spent many hours making quilts and embroidering.

Survivors include two sons: Paul of Cedar Rapids and Kenneth of Mason City; two daughters: Patricia Blanchard of Mason City and Kathleen Glawe of Waterloo; ten grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Loretta Mohr of Cresco.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Ben in 1994; her parents; and three brothers: Paul, who died in infancy, Clytes and Clarence.
