Funeral services for Orville Qualle were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. The Rev. Brace Hobert officiated. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.Orville Norris Qualle was born January 1, 1920 in Bemidji, MN, the son of Gunder P. and Emma E. (Hanson) Qualle. His early years were spent in Bemidji and he graduated from Bemidji High School in 1939. Orville enlisted in the Army Air Corp on December 30, 1941, and was discharged on December 11, 1945.
On January 14, 1950 he married Imogene C. Anderson of Mt. Pleasant.
Orville was a heavy equipment operator for L.E. Myers Company for twenty-five years and belonged to the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Union for 50 years. His work of installing electrical poles was a source of much satisfaction and was the reason he moved 19 times in 21 years. He moved to Cresco in the midsixties.
Orville was active in the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Orville, following surgery in 1996 to repair a broken hip, entered Cresco Care Center and in 1998, following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his throat, entered the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah. Orville died Sunday, January 30, 2000 at the age of 80.
Survivors include two daughters: Paula Lapic of Rochester, MN; and Kristin Moen of Cresco; two grandsons; two brothers: Buiford of Bemidji, MN, and Glenn of Brooklyn Center, MN.
Orville was preceded in death by his wife Imogene; and two children in infancy: a son, Gerald, and a daughter, Norrine; and his parents.
