Funeral services for William Polivka were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 15 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco. Interment was in New Oregon Cemetery, rural Cresco. The Rev. Robert Holdarf officiated.
William, 89, died Thursday, May 11, 2000 at the Cresco Care Center where he had resided for five years.
William Polivka was born May 24, 1910 at Cedar Rapids, the son of John and Stella (Sobolik) Polivka. He attended high school in Cresco. On May 11, 1942 he entered the Army and served during WWII in the African and Middle Eastern theater. Following his discharge he returned to Cresco and worked as a carpenter with his father.
William was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard.
