CRESCO - Mabel T. Pankow, 64, a long time Cresco resident, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 at the Manor Care Nursing Home, Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 at the Jerico Lutheran Church, Jerico with Reverend Kent Dethlefsen officiating. Music for the service was provided by Mary Beth Dethlefsen as or¬ganist playing "Rock of Ages" ”I Know Of A Sleep In Jesus Name" and "Alleluia, Jesus Lives".

Burial was in the church cemetery with nephews, Neil Schaffer, Daniel Schaffer, Gene Schaffer, Wayne Schaffer, Reese Ball and Victor Ball, Jr. as pallbearers.

Visitation was p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15 Martin - Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton where there was a 7 p.m. Memorial Tribute. Further visitation was an hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Mabel was born in rural Howard County on April 21, 1936, the daughter of Ole and Mabel (Foss) Anderson. She attended school at the Jerico Lutheran School and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1954. On April 1,1967 in Cresco she married Donald Pankow. The couple lived in Cresco following their marriage until January, 2000 when they moved to Lawler. In 1987, Mabel had one of her poems entitled "Autumn Rush" published in the book, "Great
Poems Of today". In her free time, Mabel enjoyed fishing, art, writing poetry and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Jerico Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; two daughters, Michele Farley (Ron), Aplington and Darlene Gebel (Marty), Lawler; one son, Travis Pankow and special friend Daisy, Cresco; two
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Orletta Ball, New Hampton and Mrs. Mavis Schaffer (Glenn), Lime Springs.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Dawn Marie Pankow; one sister, Janice Schaffer and a brother, Merlin Anderson.
