Services held for Donald Mohs, 72

Funeral services for Donald Mohs were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael L. Tauke officiated. Interment was in New Oregon Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Donald, 72, died Thursday, December 30, 1999 at the Regional Health Services of Howard County.

Donald Eugene Mohs was born July 25, 1927 in Lime Springs, the son of William and Nellie Mae (Wilmot) Mohs. He graduated from Cresco High School in 1947.

On January 7, 1953 he married Bernice Ripley at St Paul Lutheran Church at Davis Comers. Don worked at Ingersoll Implement and then for the Howard County Road Department from which he retired in 1991. Over the years he also farmed part time.

He kept occupied after retirement performing ground maintenance at the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville, and snow blowing in Cresco until his health prevented it.

He has kept busy the last few years by helping people by providing rides, running errands and helping at the senior citizen mealsite.

Survivors include two daughters: Barbara Mohs of Cresco and Connie Holland of Plum City, WI; two grandsons; and one sister: Wilma Mohs of Cresco.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a sister: Donna Mae Hebrink.
