Stella Miller, 96, services held

Funeral services for Stella Miller of Norwalk, formerly of Cresco, were held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 17 at St. Joseph’s Worship Center. The Rev. Michael L. Tauke officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Chet Miller, Jenni Seeger, Laura Tiede- mann Kristin Tiedemann, Pat Hyberger and Jerry J. Samuelson. Honorary pall bearers were: Paul Sir, Neil Polaschek, Dale Krieger and Bob Hyberger. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Stella, 96, died Thursday, January 13, 2000 at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk.

Stella Irene Miller was born January 9, 1904 at Lawler, the daughter of Joseph P. and Mathilda (Finnegan) Hyberger. As a young girl, the family moved to Cresco and Stella attended and graduated from the Assumption High School. Stella worked at various places following graduation.

On June 14, 1933 she married Claud Miller at the Assumption Church in Cresco.

Stella liked to knit and spent much time knitting afghans. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at the Assumption and then at St. Joseph’s Church. She belonged to the National Association for Retired Federal Employees.

Survivors include two sons: James of Rochester, MN and Steven of Des Moines; one daughter Claudelle Tiedemann of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband Claud on February 1, 1987, her parents; four brothers: Joseph, Raymond, Virgil and Leo; and four sisters: Ruth Hyberger, Pearl Krieger, Colletta O’Connor Foote and Mary Wilson.
