Funeral services for Elton Lybbert of Waterloo will be held at 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, December 20 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Elton, 86, died Sunday, December 17, 2000 at Allen Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Elton F. Lybbert was born May 8, 1914 in Howard County, the son of Edward and Genevieve (Bacon) Lybbert.
He married Grace Gunderson and they were later divorced. He married Marguerite M. Vodicka on November 22, 1962 in Cedar Falls.He was employed at the John Deere Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Front during WWII.
Survivors include his wife Marguerite; one son: Francis of Cresco; one daughter: Sharon Gunhus of Papillion, NE; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers: Leonard of Waterloo and Gene of Cedar Falls; and one sister: Josephine Tyrrell of Riverside, CA.
Elton was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward and Donald; and two sisters: Marian Wright and Helen Saergent.
