Services held tor Gerald Leighty, 84

Funeral services for Gerald Leighty of Lime Springs were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 20 at the Bethany Bible Church in LeRoy, MN. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery at Macomb, IL on Friday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Gerald, 81, died Monday, December 18, 2000 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.

Gerald Leighty was born May 25, 1916 at Macomb, IL, the son of Sam and Ramola (Metsker) Leighty. He graduated from high school in Blandinsville, IL. He later served in the Coast Guard in WW II.

On March 10, 1948 he married Anna Mae Leighty in Birmingham, AL. Gerald farmed in the Blandinsville, IL area until 1967 when he moved to a farm southwest of Chester. He retired from farming in 1972 and began working for Winnebago Industries in Forest City, retiring from there in 1983. They moved to Lime Springs in 1988.

Survivors include his wife Anna Mae of Lime Springs; one son: Eldon of Yale, OK; three daughters: Elaine Weyers of Lime Springs, Janet Nelson of Blooming Prairie, MN and Elisabeth Leighty of Carbondale, IL; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; and one sister: Toria Baumgartner of Blandinsville, IL:
