Services held for Paul Leitz, 81

Funeral services for Paul Leitz of Cresco were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 21 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Granger, MN. Rev. Keith Parker officiated. Interment was in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Robert Biel, David Hovey, Stanley Johnson, Jim Zdanowicz, Earl Knutson and Mark Serfling. Honor-ary pall bearers were: Merland Hovey, Kenneth Billick, Gordon Nagel, Russell Huebner, Donald Wilken, Roy Moran Jr., Elmer Brinkman and Lauren Applen. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Paul, 81, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco from complications of a stroke.

Paul A. Leitz was born July 2, 1919 in Granger, MN, the son of William and Emma (Wilhelm) Leitz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Granger.

On December 27, 1954 he married Loretta V. Stevenson at St. Matthew’s. They moved to Waterloo where Paul worked for Rath Packing Company for 28 years retiring in 1979. Following retirement Paul and Loretta moved to Florenceville where they made their home.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, trapping and playing cards.

Paul is survived by his wife Loretta; one daughter: Carol Steege of Cedar Falls; one son: Reed Stevenson of Cresco; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; three step greatgrandchildren; and two sisters: Emily Beannan of Waterloo and Martha Biel of Harmony, MN.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Henry; one sister: Dorothy Johnson and a sister in infancy.
