Funeral services for Harvey Lammers of Chester were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 26 at the Chester United Methodist Church. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs. Rev. Robert Holdorf officiated. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Harvey, 74, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at his home of natural causes.
Harvey Hans Lammers was born August 14, 1925 in Lime Springs, the son of Charles and May (Mauderer) Lammers.
On August 9, 1947, he married Barbara Krakliow in Burlington. Harvey farmed for many years in rural Lime Springs and Chester areas. After farming, he owned and operated the Wheel Inn in Chester for 23 years. He retired in 1993. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spent two winters in Arizona.
Harvey enjoyed many activities including fishing, bird watching, being outdoors, playing cards, shooting pool, and being inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. He sponsored and managed softball teams, race cars, bowling and pool teams for many years.
Harvey is survived by his wife Barbara; two sons: Curt of Cresco, and Larry of Chester; one daughter Sue Cartney of St. Louis Park, MN; nine grandchildren; one brother: Vernie of Waterloo; and one sister: Edna Dieken of Lime Springs.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Lee and Les; and three sisters: Eileen, Ella and Elsie.
