Funeral services for Adella Kostohryz of Cresco were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. Rev. Allen M. Schmitt officiated. Interment was in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Adella, 75, died Sunday, July 2, 2000 at the Cresco Care Center where she has made her home since October 8, 1999.
Adella Rose Kostohryz was born in Winneshiek County, near Spillville, on October 8, 1924 the daughter of Frank J. and Rose (Milota) Hrdlicka. She attended the rural school and helped her parents on the family farm.
On July 8, 1946 she married Frank Kostohryz at the Holy Trinity Church in Protivin, and they began their married life on the farm where they still reside.
She enjoyed the farm life, liked gardening and growing flowers. She also did a lot of cooking which started her hobby of collecting cookbooks.
Adella was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, the Holy Trinity Rosary Society, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #605 of Protivin, the Sunshine Homemakers Club and the Farm Bureau.
Adella is survived by her husband Frank; one son: Larry of Cresco; one daughter Sharon Kostohryz of Rochester, MN; two grandchildren; her mother: Rose Hrdlicka of Cresco; one brother: Leonard Hrdlicka of Cresco; and one sister: Wilma Sobolik also of Cresco.
Adella was preceded in death by her father, and one sister: Mary Ann Hrdlicka in infancy.
