A Committal Service was held at Chester Hill Cemetery Friday, April 7, 2000 for Kathryn Emma "Kay" Jones, 71, Chester, Iowa resident, who died Tueday, April 4 in the Ostrander Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1994.
The Rev. Jerry Olson of First Baptist Church, LeRoy, officiated.
She was born June 4, 1928 in Cresco, Iowa, daughter of Leanus and Anna Watts. She was united in marriage to Donald F. Jones in Austin, Minn. Dec. 9, 1944. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, cooking and caring for her children and family. She enjoyed dancing and was a great scrabble player.
They returned to the Chester, Iowa area after her husband's retirement from Amana Refrigeration in 1990.
Survivors include her husband, Donald, Chester, Iowa; two sons, Jerry (Brenda) Jones, Watkins, Iowa, and Russel Jones, Chester; daughters. Sandra (Tim) Good, Canton, Minn., and Wendy (Jim) Richardson, also of Canton; five granchildren, Erin, Katie, Amanda, Sara and Evan, and a great-grandson, Jayson. Also a sister, Darlene Corporon, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and two brothers, Frank (Kay) Watts, Fort Meyers, Fla., and David (Elaine) Watts, St. Cloud, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, and a grandson, Benjamin.
Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
