Fort Dodge - Colleen Copper, age 86, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, died Aug. 4, 2016 at Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 8, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Colleen Marie Henry, the daughter of John and Marguerite (Norton) Henry, was born April 8, 1930 in Howard County, Iowa and graduated from Assumption High School in Cresco in 1948. While Colleen was attending Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa, she met her future husband, Gilbert Copper. On Sept. 3, 1949, they were united in marriage at Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. After their marriage the couple made their home in Dubuque, moving to the Fort Dodge area in 1968.
Colleen worked in the public health field for over 30 years. She worked in several area nursing homes as a nurse’s aide or as a dietary aide.
After her husband passed away on June 2, 2010, Colleen lived with her daughter, Patricia in Fort Dodge. On Jan. 10, 2016 she moved to Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Catholic Daughters and several area church prayer groups.
Colleen is survived by her children, Patricia Copper (Mike Caskey) of Fort Dodge, Barbara (John) Sevier of California, John Copper (Amy Kersten Bruno) of Fort Dodge, Michael Copper of Costa Mesa, Calif., Cathy (Kenny) Beck of Burnside, Iowa, Mary Copper of Coralville, Kevin Copper of Burnside, Marjorie (Andy) Stimmel of Oxford, Iowa, Christopher Copper of Oregon and Gregory (Angie) Copper of Humboldt, Iowa; 27 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Merle Henry of Yuba City, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her two sisters, Mary McCullough and Sister Patricia Henry; and two brothers, Jack and Gaylord Henry.
