Arnold Ihns, 78 services held

Funeral services for Arnold Ihns, 78, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 17 at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco with interment in the Calvary Cemetery. Conway Funeral Home in Cresco was in charge of arrangements.

Arnold Peter Ihns was born in Howard County near Lime Springs , on May 30, 1922, the son of Arnold Francis and Minnie Louise (Michaelsen) Ihns. He attended rural schools.

On June 28, 1961 he married Betty Jirak in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church at Spillvjlle.

Arnold farmed in this area, living near Bonair, Cresco, Maple Leaf and Limes Springs. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs and enjoyed playing cars, gambling, fishing, hunting, camping and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; three daughters, JoAnn Wangen of Lime Springs, and Lori Patterson and Christy Hron, both of Cresco; five grandchildren; one brother, Delbert Ihns, Sr, of Limes Springs; and two sisters, Louise McCunniff of Waterloo and Hazel Bronner of Cresco.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Terbest; two half-brothers, Francis and Laverne Ihns, and one half-sister, Evelyn.
