Alvin Joseph Drilling, 69, died of cancer Friday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. The body was cremated and burial will be at a later date.

Alvin was born in Cresco and had lived in the Des Moines area most of his life. He was a retired warehouseman for Fairco AGI Foods in Ankeny and was a member of Holy Trinity Funeral Choir, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Teamsters union.

Survivors include his wife Delores; three sons: Tom of Madrid, Steve of Albuquerque, NM and Dave of Harcourt; four daughters: Diane Doro of Des Moines, Donna Drilling-Chiaro of Tucson, AZ, Theresa Drilling of Glenwood and Denise Frederick of Florence SC; 12 grandchildren; two brothers: Bob of Clive and Vern of Minneapolis, MN; and three sisters: Dorothy Drilling of Waterloo, Eilene Drilling of Anoka and Loraine O’Hearn of St. Louis.
