Dear Lord,
we come to you
This morning in our thoughts and prayers
Thanking you for the life of Elgin Lewis
A husband, father, grandfather
Who we knew he cared
He had a great family
A wonderful wife
Who gave him many pleasures
All through his life
He was a good father
Husband and grandfather as well
Many lovely memories
His four boys, two girls and grandchildren might tell
Whether in Iowa or Texas he went
The outdoor life was
A life, he felt
Was well spent
Although in failing health
For the great part of his life
He always looked on the bright side
During his struggle and strife
Bearing his load
As his faithful wife
Gave him love and encouragement
And comfort in his home
Which he had much pride
Today Lord, we give this
Husband, father, grandfather to you
Keep him, love him
As we have too.
