Mrs. Edward Meighan
Miss Mary Josephine Lynch was born in Cincinatti Ohio, on May 2, 1846. She was married to Mr.Edward Meighan at Mineral Point, Wis., May 18, 1861, and in 1871 they moved to Cresco, Iowa, and four years later they settled in the vicinity of Lime Springs, Iowa, where they have since lived and here, her companion passed to the beyond Dec. 18, 1909. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom are still living, namely, Augusta M., Edward J., Perry J., and William F. of Donnybrook, N.D., Dolly and Walter W. of Chester, Iowa, and George L., of Lime Springs, the two having passed on before her being Minnie, who died in 1882 and Mrs. Cora Duerdin, who died in May 1915. Besides these there are four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. All of these living remain to mourn the departure of a kind and loving parent.
During the past year or more she has not been in very good health though not suffering any bodily pain but declining gradually. She was very fond of flowers and it seems that during the last years her little stand was well supplied with these constantly brought by loving and sympathetic hands especially children for whom she always had a smile of gratitude. She passed away quietly without pain on Monday evening, July 30, 1917, at 7 o'clock at Chester, Iowa, being at her death 77 years, 2 months, and 28 days old. Her remains were brought to Lime Springs and laid to rest beside those of her husband and two daughters in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Card of Thanks
We wish to sincerely thank the many friends who so willingly gave of their assistance and sympathy during the illness and after the death of our beloved mother and we wish especially to thank the little girls who for so long a time brought flowers daily to cheer her last days on this earth.
