Edythe Josephine Price, 93, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco, Iowa surrounded by family.
Edythe was born on August 14, 1917 in Grand Meadow, Minn., the second daughter of Joseph and Ella (Florand) Peterson. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1935. For several years Edythe was employed by Temanson’s Grocery in her home town.
Edythe and Edwin I. Price were united in marriage on April 11, 1943 in the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. After returning from the East Coast, where Edwin was serving in the Navy, they made their home in Lime Springs, Iowa. Together they owned and operated Price’s Grocery and Dry Goods for many years. Edythe was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church until its closing in 1994. She was currently a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to garden, enjoyed golf and treasured time shared with family and friends.
Edythe is survived by her three children, Jane (Jens) Kallevang of Waukon, Iowa, Anita (Kipp) Skaden of Culver City, Calif. and John (Alice) Price of Sioux City, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edythe was preceded in death by her husband Edwin; sister Melba Ries; parents Joseph and Ella Peterson; and granddaughter Jessica Kallevang.
The service was held August 1 in the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs with the committal service following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of services.
