Anna Vrieze, age 91, of Spring Valley died Sunday July 4, 2010 at the Spring Valley Senior Living.
Anna H. Lingbeck was born April 26, 1919 in Lime Springs, Iowa to John and Mae (Klaus) Lingbeck. She attended country school through the eighth grade and was united in marriage to Burton Vrieze at the Lime Springs United Methodist Church on June 3, 1936. Together they farmed near Lime Springs for a short time until purchasing a farm near Chester, Iowa in 1942. They farmed there until retiring in 1972, when they moved to Spring Valley. Anna was a homemaker and a farm wife, helping Burton throughout their 71 years of marriage. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very caring person.
Anna is survived by three children, Joyce (Howard) Ronken of Kenyon, Minn., Roger (Boni) Vrieze of Bella Vista, Ark. and Allen Vrieze of Cresco, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on December 18, 2007; one great-granddaughter; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Anna Vrieze will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday July 8, 2010 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with Rev Dennis Timmerman and Rev Laura Fladten officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will take place in the Chester Hill Cemetery following the service.
