Angela Eleanor Riha Fortney, 81, of Chester, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Austin Medical Center, Austin, Minn., after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 3, 1928, in Fort Atkinson, daughter of Mary and Joseph Riha. She married Dean Fortney on September 6, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Fortney graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1946. She worked as a nanny until her marriage. She enjoyed gardening, yardwork, many crafts and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four daughters, Judy (Melvin) Eastland of Riceville, Nancy (Pat) Ginder of Osage, Phyllis (Robert) Reuter of Waterloo, and Cathy (Dave) Acevedo of Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Bruce (Carla) Fortney of Lime Springs and Craig (Renee) Fortney of Dover, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Riha of Fort Atkinson; and two sisters, Clara Riha of Fort Atkinson and Helen MacMasters of Decorah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters and her husband.
Services were held Saturday, March 20 at Lindstrom Funeral home in Cresco, Iowa with burial in Chester Hill Cemetery.
