A memorial service for Warren Lynn Proctor, 86, of Cresco, who passed away April 25, 2012, was held Friday, April 27 at the First United Methodist Church Cresco. Warren was born March 3, 1926 in Clear Lake, Iowa to the late Charles and Nellie Proctor.

Warren Lynn Proctor, 86, of Cresco, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, IA. Warren was born March 3, 1926 in Clear Lake, Iowa to the late Charles and Nellie Proctor. After serving in the US Army in World War II, he graduated from Upper Iowa University. He started his lifelong career in the school business teaching and coaching in Walford and then Swaledale, Iowa. After receiving a Master’s Degree at the University of Iowa he became the superintendent of schools in Rock Falls, Iowa. In 1955, he moved to Cresco where he held the positions of teacher, High School Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Business Manager until he retired in 1988. It was in Cresco where he raised his family and formed the lasting friendships that he enjoyed until his death. He was a member of the Cresco United Methodist Church. He spent many hours playing golf and bridge and socializing at the Cresco Country Club. Warren is survived by his wife of 63 years, LuCille (Gilbert) Proctor and his 3 daughters, Cyndy Clement and husband Brad of Marshalltown, Iowa and Scottsdale, Arizona; Sheila Ware of Euless, Texas and Scottsdale, Arizona; Leslie Allcorn and husband Michael of McKinney, Texas ; as well as his 4 grandchildren, Alexa Harting and husband Eric of Denton, Texas; Andrew Howard of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Joseph Morgenstern and wife Emily of Richardson, Texas; and Zane Allcorn of Dallas, TX. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Jane, Ben and Ellen Harting and Merritt Morgenstern. Warren was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and golf and was an enthusiastic spectator of Crestwood High School athletics. He rooted tirelessly for the Hawks, Cyclones, Bears and especially his prized Chicago Cubs. Warren was a loving and devoted husband and father who had a gentlemanly demeanor that endeared him to all who knew him. He will lovingly be remembered by all for his strength of character and strong guiding presence. Rest in peace, sweet “Grampa.”
