Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Ryan will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday January 2, 2015 at Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony, MN with Rev Msgr Paul Heiting and Father Don Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in State Line Cemetery rural Harmony, MN. Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday January 1, 2015 at Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony. There will be a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. visitation will continue for 1 hr prior to the service on Friday.

Dorothy Jean (Daskam) Ryan, age 91, of Harmony, MN died Monday December 29, 2014 at her home at Clara House in Harmony.

She was born on February 27, 1923 at home in Howard County, IA to Walter and Mabelle (Pollitt) Daskam. On April 26, 1944 she was united in marriage to Roger Robert Ryan at Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony and together they farmed in rural Harmony for 62 years and lovingly raised a family there. She thoroughly enjoyed having children around, visiting with family and friends, playing cards, bingo, doing puzzles, and baking. She was known for her warm hospitality and her delicious homemade bread and angel food cakes.

Dorothy is survived by her 6 children: Jim (Rita) Ryan of Stewartville, MN; Marlene (Milt) Tyler of LaCrosse, WI; Connie Jean Ryan of Rochester, MN; Richard Ryan of Rochester, MN; Dan (Sue) Ryan of Onalaska, WI; and Vince (Julie) Ryan of Webster, MN. 17 Grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her beloved husband, Roger; a grandson, John Tyler; a granddaughter, Ashley Ryan; a great-grandson, Owen Bohlig; sister, Lola; brothers, George, Gerald and her twin brother Donald.
