Doris Reicks, age 73, of Cresco, Iowa passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Patty Elwood Center surrounded by her family in Cresco, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 E. 3rd St. Cresco, IA 52136. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, at the Notre Dame Catholic Church with a scripture service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 N Elm Street, Cresco, IA, is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Mary Panos was born on February 3, 1941, daughter of Adolph Joseph and Margaret Agnes (Kuhn) Panos at the Chickasaw County Hospital in New Hampton, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Little Turkey, Iowa. Doris was a 1959 graduate of Lawler High School. On September 10, 1960, Doris was united in marriage to Don Reicks in Little Turkey, Iowa, and they later divorced. Doris received her C.N.A. and worked at Evans Memorial Home for several years. When Doris wasn’t busy spending time with her grandchildren and family, she loved to garden, read, embroider, crotchet, and bake, especially kolaches. She was a member of the Rosary Society at the Notre Dame Parish.

Doris is survived by her 8 children, Leon (Laura) Reicks of Postville, IA, Marcia Roberts of Cresco, IA, Ines (Mark) Tibbals of Lime Springs, IA, Dione Reicks-Berry of Urbandale, IA, Janice (Mike Marlow) Reicks of Burr Oak, IA, Jean (Brian) Balk of Cresco, IA, Vickie (Ty) Herron of Shawnee, KS, and Lyle (Stacey) Reicks of Johnston, IA; 17 grandchildren, Drew Reicks, Nash Reicks, Jennifer (Troy) Martin, Cindy Roberts, Danny Roberts, Johnny Roberts, Kurt (Taylor) Tibbals, Joey (Anna) Tibbals, Chris Tibbals, Alexis Berry, Nate Berry, David (Alyssa) Reicks, Cody (Trisha) Reicks, Miranda Balk, Samantha Balk, Caleb Balk, and Morgan Herron; 3 great grandchildren, Collin Roberts, Rylan Roberts, Noah Tibbals, and one on the way; siblings, Aldon (Marie) Panos of Waucoma, IA, Lorraine (Wayne) Carlson of New Hampton, IA, Carol (Tim) Deeny of Protivin, IA, and Duane (Mary Ann) Panos of Swisher, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Adolph and Margaret.
