John Glen Cashman, age 90 of Elma, IA passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Colonial Manor in Elma.
John Glen was born on April 11, 1924 to John and Emma (Huber) Cashman in Elma, Iowa. He attended Immaculate Conception Academy and graduated from Elma Public School. Upon graduating, Glen engaged in farming with his parents and later was a DeKalb seed corn salesman. On June 9, 1951 Glen was united in marriage to Donna Hughes at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes, IA. The couple made their home in rural Chickasaw County where they raised their four children, Bill, Tim, Michelle and Dan. Glen was a proud, supportive father and grandfather. When younger Glen loved playing and coaching softball, dancing to Big Band music and has always been an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and golfing. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Church of Elma, Riceville and Elma Country Clubs and was on the board of Colonial Manor of Elma.
Glen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna of Alta Vista, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild: Bill (Sharon) Cashman of Waverly, IA, Ann, Molly, John and Sarah, Drs. Tim (Joyce) Cashman, Juliana of Santa Theresa, NM, Michelle (Randy) Till of La Motte, IA, Kyler, Justin, Trevor (Jessica) and Gabe, Brent and Colby, Dan (Deb) Cashman of Urbandale, IA, Kelsey and Katie and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Emma Cashman, brother and sister-law, Neil and Joan Cashman, Others include in-laws Jake and Ginny Bergen, William Hughes, Marta Hughes, nephews, Mike and Neil Cashman and niece, Sara Nibaur Baughman.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Colonial Manor of Elma for the wonderful care they gave Glen.
