Mrs. Oscar Bloomgren
Mrs. Marie Bloomgren, nee Roper, was born March 21, 1897 in Warren, Ill. She was married to Oscar Bloomgren Nov. 2, 1922 at Warren, Ill. Their union was blessed with four children, three girls and one boy.
Excepting four years spent in Minnesota, Mrs. Bloomgren lived the rest of her married life in Howard county. She died at Iowa City at 1:30 o'clock Saturday morning, May 16, at the age of 39 years. She went to the hospital at Iowa City a week previous to her death, having been ailing since the birth of a son six weeks ago.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Grace, Lovain and Elaine and one son Austin. Besides these there are two sisters: Mrs. Alice Bloomgren of Cresco and Miss Effie Roper of Shullsburg, Wis.; two brothers: Jess Roper of Shullsburg, Wis., and Hart Roper of Rockford, Ill.; one aunt, Mrs. Emma MacDonald of Rock City, Ill.
Funeral services were held at two o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lou Nelson. Rev. L.W. Moench, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church of Cresco, officiated. Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery.
