William Bradley, the second son of Charles and Maria Bradley, was born in Cummington, Mass., Sept. 26, 1854.

After the death of his father, he came west with his mother and older brother when he was a boy of fourteen and lived with them at the home of his uncle, Mr. Edward Burnham, of Bristol, Minn.

Two years later his mother built a house in Florenceville, Iowa, which was his home for a number of years. He attended school there and also at Cresco, being afterward employed in the jewelry store of his step-father, Mr. R. Sherbondy, at West Union, Iowa.

A few years later he went to Kansas where took up a homestead in Decatur county. His health failing, he returned to his old home in Florenceville in 1890, but as his condition did not improve he was taken to the hospital at Independence for treatment. He remained there until his death, which was the result of apoplexy. For several years he had been totally blind. His life of patient suffering was ended Sept. 23, 1918, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 27 days. His sisters, Mrs. Maude Lomas and Mrs. Belle Nichols were called to his bedside last week and remained with him till he died. His remains were brought to Cresco on Sept. 24th, and were laid beside his mother at Oaklawn.

Of his immediate family there are left to survive, his brother, Mr. Geo. H. Bradley of Norcater, Kan., and three sisters, Mrs. Waita Smith of Fall River, Kan., Mrs. Belle Nichols of Lime Springs, Iowa, and Mrs. Maude Lomas of Cresco, Iowa.

Mr. Bradley was of a retiring and sensitive disposition, his substantial virtues and the quiet kindliness of his nature endearing him to those who knew him best.

His nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Bradley of Chicago attended the funeral.
