Duane E. Hageman, 87, of Cresco, IA, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, IA.

A scripture service will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, Iowa. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Duane Emil Hageman was born July 23, 1926 to Emil and Frieda (Bartz) Hageman in Greenwood, WI. When Duane was a small boy, his family moved to the Chester, IA area. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the army. On June 11, 1955, Duane was united in marriage to Charlene Burgess in Cresco, IA and together they had three children. Duane and Charlene both played guitar together in the Westernaires Band for many years. His favorite guitar was the Fender Telecaster. When Duane wasn’t performing in the band, he was farming, fixing up old tractors, and enjoyed gambling. He loved to “wheel and deal.” Duane also worked at Donaldson’s for a few years.

Duane is survived by his children, Wanda (Butch Kloubec) Hageman of North Liberty, IA, Randy Hageman of Cresco, IA and his children, Becki (Bryan) Hubka, their children, McKenna, Cameron, Paxton, and Aspyn Hubka, and Miranda (Gerald Newman) Hageman, their son, Holden Newman, and Carla (Tim) Vorwald of Cresco, IA, their children, Jesse and Dylan Vorwald; and his siblings, Adelaide Albrecht, Merle Hageman, and Bernie Christiansen.

Preceding Duane in death are his wife, Charlene, parents, Emil and Frieda, and sister, Doris Durr.
