RITES FOR MRS. SARAH THAYER HELD SUNDAY

Mrs. Sarah Thayer passed away at her home in Cresco Friday, November 6 following several weeks of illness. Funeral services were held at the house at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Geo. A. Ingle officiating. Mrs. J.C. Feuling and Mrs. John Kakac, Jr., accompanied on the violin by Farrington Barker, sang "The Little Brown Church in the Vale", this song being selected due to the fact that Mrs. Thayer was the first organist of this famous church and the events of her life were closely connected with it. Interment was made at Oak Lawn cemetery.

Sarah H. Hazeldine was born December 24, 1848 at Farmington in Trumbull County, Ohio. She was the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Hazeldine.

At about the age of twelve years she with her parents moved to Howard County, Iowa, and later to Bradford. Here she received her early education and later attended the academy.

On June 29th, 1869 she was united in marriage to Alonzo M. Thayer. To this union were born three children: Maude Evelyn, who died in the year 1900; J. Fred and Ruth H. of this city. Her husband preceded her in death in May, 1923. She passed away Friday, November 4, 1932, attaining the age of 83 years, 10 months and 9 days.
