Richard Jones died at Foreston, Iowa, January 15th, 1901 in his 83d year.
He had been feeble for several months and passed away quietly and seemingly without pain, surrounded by his family and friends. He was conscious to the last.
He was born in Anglesea, North Wales in the year 1818. He came to the United States with his parents in the year 1831, settling in Remsen, New York.
They came west in 1846 and located at Rock Hill, Wis.
He was married to Miss Ann Hughes, July 3d, 1848 at Rock Hill, Wis. where they lived until 1871, when they came to Howard county where he resided until his death.
He leaves a widow four sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father.
He was noted for his hospitality and his loss will be felt by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
He was a member of the Welsh Calvanistic Methodist church and died full of faith in God, and had often expressed his desire to be called home.
Funeral services were from the residence on Saturday Jan. 19th conducted by Rev O R. Morris and Rev. Vaughan Griffiths. He was laid to rest in the Foreston cemetery.
